Premium large format

PLF does not refer to a single format in general, but combinations of non-proprietary amenities such as larger "wall-to-wall" screens, 4K projectors, 7.1 and/or positional surround sound systems (including Dolby Atmos), and higher-quality seating (such as leather recliners).

Most movie theaters consider any movie before 4 p.m. a matinee. Some theaters may offer a larger discount on the first showing of the day, sometimes called a pre-matinee. You may also be able to get the matinee price for the last showing of the night if it's after 11 p.m.

The cheapest days to go are always Monday to Thursday. Most cinemas have lower prices on these days, and cheaper still before 5pm.

Most theaters offer matinee shows that are significantly cheaper than those in the evening. This is especially true for weekday matinees. If you can go to a movie during off-peak times (such as during the day or on a weekday), you could save up to 30% on your ticket price.

As previously mentioned, booking airfare on Sunday is cheaper than other days of the week, especially Fridays. Be willing to fly mid-week. Since Thursdays tend to be the cheapest day to fly, see if you can tweak your travel plans so you depart and fly home during the week instead of on weekend days. Set price alerts.
